JUST BURN IT
A mock product designed and prototyped for Nike following their ad campaign featuring Colin Kaepernick.
When Kaepernick appeared on a major campaign for Nike, it led to a political firestorm. In 2016, he began kneeling during the national anthem to protest racial inequality and police brutality. Some fans interpretted this action to be disrespectful to America and military service members.
Individuals reacted by burning their Nike brand shoes and cutting the "swoosh" logo off their socks. This mock kit facilitates the burning of Nike products, but appeals to socially conscious millennials that support Kaepernick’s protests. The continued success of Nike in spite of this turmoil represents a successful moment in a much larger movement for social justice.
